During the summer season, the churches of the Gothic Route bearing the European Heritage Label, are open as follows, thanks to the support of the Banská Bystrica Region Tourism and thanks to Terra Incognita from the Košice Self-Governing Region:
Štítnik Circuit

Štítnik, Ochtiná, Koceľovce and Plešivec:
Monday – Saturday: 9:00 – 12:00 and 13:00 – 16:00
Rimava circuit

Rimavské Brezovo, Kyjatice and Kraskovo:
Wednesday – Saturday: 10:00 – 12:00 and 13:00 – 16:00
Rimavská Baňa:
closed due to ongoing renovation
Jelšava circuit

Kameňany and Šivetice:
Wednesday – Saturday: 10:00 – 12:00 and 13:00 – 16:00
Chyžné:
Wednesday – Saturday: 10:00 – 12:00 and 13:00 – 16:00, but we recommend to contact the sacristian in advance on +421 907 109 659
Rákoš:
Saturday 10:00 – 12:00 and 13:00 – 16:00, on other days it is necessary to contact the sacristian in advance on +421 915 152 432
Admission is voluntary and remains with the local congregation/parish for maintenance. We recommend that you leave a minimum of €1 or €2 in the collection box. For a voluntary contribution you can take a map of the Gothic Way or an information booklet from some churches, or buy souvenirs such as magnets and postcards.
We are grateful to the owners of the churches, to all helpful parish priests, vicars and sacristians for opening the churches. Thanks goes also to the dedicated mayors.
On the signs at the entrance to the churches you will find three QR codes with links to an article about the church, an audio guide and a virtual tour of the exterior and interior. All information is available in Slovak, Hungarian and English.
You can visit these churches during the opening hours. However, the contacts on our website are still valid, not only for the 12 churches which are part of The European Heritage Label, but also for other churches in Gemer and Malohont, which you can visit after the prior arrangement.
